A slacker teen's right had becomes an implement of evil.

How does this only have 16% on Rotten Tomatoes? This movie is hilarious! It's such a unique blend of horror and peak late 90s stoner-comedy. And the entire cast is great. From Devon Sawa as Anton the ultimate slacker, Seth Green, and Elden Henson as his weed-slinging buddies, and Vivica A. Fox as Debi the druidic high-priestess they are all giving it 100%. Great slapstick too, especially from Sawa and his possessed hand. It nearly reaches the level of the master, Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 2. My favourite gags (besides all the evil-hand stuff) have to be Debi's crazy driving and Anton's nonchalant attitude toward a lot of the crazy stuff going on around him, including his dead parents.

It's more a comedy than a horror movie but the gore effects are still solid and there are still a few decent kills. I'd recommend a Halloween watch since it takes place during and so the Halloween vibes are pretty decent.

Bonus: The hand is played by the same hand actor as The Addams Family (1991), magician Christopher Hart.

Why you should watch:

  • It's a unique premise, set at Halloween with loads of familiar faces.

  • Solid slapstick and humour throughout.

  • A hilarious cast.

Why you shouldn't watch:

  • You don't like dumb stoner humour.
