Those crazy bastards really tried to humanize John Kramer and you know what? It kind of worked. Don't do the crime if you can't do the torture puzzle.
Saw X is the story of John Kramer (Tobin Bell) who travels to Mexico for a risky cure for his brain cancer. It turns out that the entire operation is a scam to steal money from dying people. Now, John Kramer aka Jigsaw is out to punish those who wronged him.
This is probably the best the Saw series has been since the first two movies. It has a serviceable script, characters with motivations, and most importantly we get different locations. Tobin Bell gives what is probably his best performance yet as Jigsaw. I know he had me on his side by the end. The traps were good and gnarly and I appreciate that they were actually solvable as opposed to some of the other entries in the series.
Bonus: They used that horrible yellow filter for the outdoor shots in Mexico. Do the filmmakers think Mexico is on another planet?
