A fun, slime filled creature feature with some great monster effects.
Giant mutant wasps crash a lavish upper-class garden party, throwing the event into chaos. Will our main characters escape these winged predators? Find out in: Stung!
Stung is a disgustingly goopy, body-horror-filled creature feature that is just delightful. The slime effects are super goopy and the gore and blood are very well done. But the best part? Those amazing giant wasps! Both the practical wasps and the CGI renders are fantastic. I appreciated the director's choice to base the wasp design on the Tarantula wasp as opposed to a more expected wasp design. Tarantula wasps already look so freaky and alien, so it was a good choice in my opinion. Plus, they do lay their eggs in their hosts just like in the movie. The egg-laying leads to some great body horror too.
Aside from all the great effects and creature designs, the movie has interesting characters that you can get invested in. The two leads (Matt O'Leary and Jessica Cook) had great chemistry and it was nice to see Lance Henriksen, who is great as always. Lance has some great lines in this.
In all this is a fun creature feature with some old-school vibes.
Bonus: Catch a quick reference to 'Trioxin' from The Return of the Living Dead.
