When Melvin Junko falls into a barrel of toxic waste, he is reborn as the monstrous hero: The Toxic Avenger!

This was my first Troma picture, and boy I didn't know what I was missing. If you like your comedy black, this is the movie for you. I never thought a kid getting hit by a car or a dog being shot could be hilarious. It's violent, it's greasy, and it's one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. It may be cliche to say this but, if you're easily offended this might not be the movie for you.

All the actors know what kind of movie they're in a give 110% energy. I loved all the goofy line delivery and even goofier facial expressions. The gore effects are exactly where they need to be for this kind of production. Check it out if you're interested in the schlocky side of film.

Bonus: Somehow this spawned a Saturday morning cartoon? The 90s were wild.

Why you should watch:

  • It's absolute B-movie madness.

  • Hilarious deaths and fights.

  • It's shocking in a good way.

Why you shouldn't watch:

  • There's child death, dog death, wild gore effects.

  • It's offensive in that special '80s way.
